We value being ethically conscious above all else, so we believe it is important for us the inform and educate our customers or anyone inserted with sustainability of our products.
Our Supply Chain - Fully Transparent Supply Chain
We are involved in every part of our supply chain, this gives us complete control on how we manage it. Unlike an ordinary knitter we have the luxury to do it in most sustainable way. We produce all our products as if they were organic certified even if they not. This means that we apply all the criteria of GOTS with a significant emphasis on the social criteria. All of production takes place in area of 90 km. This significantly cuts on transportation and by in doing so it cuts on carbon emissions and transport costs. The organic cotton comes from our contracted farms which we work since the establishment of the company. Later they are taken to the spinning facility which is also in 90 km radius. While spinning our yarn again we have the luxury to do it in our terms. For sustainable yarns other than organic cotton, we work with companies who care about our values. These include recycled polyester, TENCEL ® Lyocell, Hemp, Linen and recycled polyester. For the most important step of knitting or weaving, our own facilities are leading the industry with state of art machinery. At these facilities every thing monitor form energy and water usage to carbon emissions. Fabrics are dyed in an facility which resuses the water couple of times by filtering it on site. Being involved in all parts of the supply chain lets use offer affordable fabrics while offering a increased living standards for the people making the fabrics.
The Stocks of Manifutura
Due to the nature of our business, unfortunately it’s not possible to produce the exact amount of fabric for our private label cut & sew projects. We almost always end up with unused fabrics and these stocks end up staying in our warehouse for years. Now, whatever’s left at the bottom of the shelves will be on display at Manifutura.com. But Manifutura is more than just left-over fabrics, it also includes our R&D collection as well as never out of stock fabrics.
At the moment there is great demand, yet a major lack of sourcing for sustainable raw materials and for small scale businesses. Here we will be offering our stock fabrics and yarn with no or low minimums as well as custom production projects.
This of course, in addition to benefiting both sides, will also help avoid unnecessary overproduction just to meet MOQs. So, it will come in handy decreasing the use of valuable resources especially water, the most important one.
We know it’s not much, but it’s still a step towards circular economy.
